So it goes.

Many of you will have read Kurt Vonnegut Jr‘s Slaughterhouse Five published in 1969 which is based loosely on his experiences as a POW in Dresden the night it was firebombed by the Allies.  If you’ve not read the novel, you probably should, it’s both tragic and funny at the same time, and is ultimately an anti-war statement.  Here you can read Vonnegut’s original letter back home that relates his experience, and here you can hear Vonnegut himself reading an excerpt from his novel (QuickTime needed), and below there is an interview with Vonnegut about his Dresden experience which he describes as ‘a total calamity of civilisation’.
