Golden Harvest

July 5, 2012

A new history of the holocaust in Poland by Polish historian Jan T Gross, entitled Golden Harvest, has upset many Poles precisely it highlights the high level of complicity among the Polish population in the holocaust and goes against the official version of history that denotes Poland as victim of both Nazi and Soviet invasion.

Taking its name from the photograph above which allegedly details Polish peasants scouring the remains of Treblinka for items of jewellery that the Nazis left behind, Gross has taken the holocaust beyond the camps and argues that the local population were willing participants in the holocaust.  You can read a much more in depth article here.
